You are best to get Size 5 Main bearings and Size 3 Big end bearings
Those sizes have the largest OD and Smallest ID. This way your engine builder can hone the mains tunnel and big end tunnel to obtain perfect oil clearance for the application. as if you buy the stock size bearings and then the block or rods need honing anyway, that will mean your clearances will be too loose.

Using the stock bearing sizes will be fine for stock rebuilds using stock rods etc but high performance stuff such as a forged engine build you would be absolutely stupid not to make sure all of your oil clearances are spot on.

the difference in size between largest and smallest factory size bearings is 0.018mm. If you did run a bearing and scar the crank you would need to grind more than 0.018mm off it to get it to clean up enough to be serviceable
if you were to run a bearing you would go to undersize bearings. either -0.5mm (-0.020") and grind the crank.

as for the main tunnel and or conrods. if it needs to be smaller you can grind material off the mating surface of the crank girdle (aka main caps) or conrod cap which will make the main journals/ big end journals smaller, but oval. Then you can hone the oval hole back round again to close up any excessive oil clearance needed.

ARP8740 Bolts
This is ARP’s lowest price bolt. While still being much stronger than a standard grade 8 bolt, it is primarily used in lesser applications. It has a 180,000# strength.

ARP2000 Bolts
This is standard in most of our aluminum rods. Very good quality and has a 220,000# strength.

ARPL19 Bolts
Used mostly as a bolt upgrade in aluminum rods. Used in high stress applications and has a 260,000# strength.

ARP Custom Age 625 Bolts
Used as an upgrade in aluminum rods. They are very expensive. However, it is a must for the most extreme applications and has a 280,000# strength.
